Alta Halverson Seymour

This dynamic and fascinating author has become a favorite of ours! Sara maintains that her family’s favorite homeschool read-aloud of all time is one of Seymour’s books (you can take a peek here). If you are a member of Biblioguides, you can see a list of all of her books and a lovely bio written by the Biblioguides team, here. We hope to have all of her Christmas books reviewed soon and as many of her others as we can.

We had a lovely chat with Tanya Arnold of Biblioguides and Jill Morgan of Purple House Press about this beloved female author, listen in here.

Seymour’s Christmas Books

From 1951-1956, Alta Halverson Seymour wrote a charming series of Christmas books for children, which are perfectly suited to family read-aloud during the holidays. The series, published by Wilcox and Follett Company, was titled “Christmas Around the World,” and it includes six books set in Norway, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Holland, and Ireland. She also wrote another Christmas book which is not part of the series, but is a true story of her father’s childhood, A Grandma For Christmas. Sara truly loves this series and thinks it would bless many homes. It could be the foundation of new family traditions anywhere. You can learn more about Seymour and this series at Biblioguides here. Sara and Sherry Early from Meriadoc Homeschool Library have reviewed some of the Christmas books:
