Bread and Jam for Frances is my favorite Frances the Badger book, but that may be because it was the first one I read. I love all the little songs she makes up about food.
A Birthday for Frances, Best Friends for Frances, and A Bargain for Frances complete the Frances series. All six Frances books are quite consistent in story quality and reading level. Your favorite, and your children’s favorite, will probably be whichever handles a topic nearest to your hearts.
In A Birthday for Frances, Frances’s little sister’s birthday is coming up. Frances is jealous because it isn’t her own birthday, but she tries to be generous and giving.
In Best Friends for Frances, Frances wants a best friend, but doesn’t want her sister to be that friend.
In A Bargain for Frances, Frances has a little more trouble with a friend who isn’t above trying to cheat. Frances is able to show Thelma that friends are more important than things.
HarperCollins has abridged all five Frances books for their I Can Read series, and they are all available at Amazon.
It can be difficult to find the originals. For help you can search for the books at Biblioguides.com and click on “Find This Book.”
