Our Cat Flossie by Ruth Brown is a mixture of loveliness and delightful humor.

Clearly, Brown knows and loves cats and dogs.

This book celebrates the often humorous ways in which cats worm their way into our hearts. Flossie isn’t killing birds and catching fish. Rather, she has a hobby of “bird watching” and “fishing.”

And any of us who have ever had a cat make a mess of our knitting will laugh at this illustration. And, making a bed with a cat is pretty much an Olympic sport. (That goes for puppies too.)

Last year during the holidays, Amazon sent out a lot of boxes with a message printed on the side that read: “If you think that you are excited about this box, just wait until your cat sees it.” Flossie would agree, I think.

A truly charming book, this is out of print but can be easily found on Amazon and used book sites. It is also available to read for free on Internet Archive.
