A Plumfield Kids Book Review by Elsa, age 11
If there is one thing I’ve always loved, it’s a book with a soul. And this book has one. I love the stern contrast between the Lands of Luxury, a beautiful oasis, and Yarborough, the island of garbage. The fact that the Island is governed by tyrannical robots was also a fun addition to the storyline as far as villains go! And you seriously can’t forget Jane! Her determination to return a long lost doll to its rightful owner, rather than keeping the beautiful treasure for herself proves that she is a good, honest, strong character.
Timothy and Rodney are the best supporting characters ever. They had me laughing out loud while reading; they are that hilarious. Jane’s relationship with them, and theirs with each other, is more family than friends. Jane wouldn’t have made it without them. This leads me to a question. Does she make it? There really needs to be a sequel. I strongly recommend this book to other young readers in need of a fun engaging story. It was a very intriguing and quick read. The writing was equally masterful and humorous. This book will leave you at the edge of your seat, waiting impatiently to find out what happens.
From Sara:
I sincerely enjoyed this first offering from Jon Tilton and do hope that he will write more. The writing is solid, the story is interesting, the values are on point, and a series like this is refreshing! I enjoyed the audio, and I purchased the hardbound for our library.
