This school year, I will be hosting a monthly book club for parents at my local Christian bookstore. Each month we will read one chapter of Tending the Heart of Virtue by Vigen Guroian as well as committing to read one of the corresponding children’s stories aloud to our families. At each meeting, we will talk about Guroian’s writing and our experiences reading the children’s stories with eyes that see the deeper magic. If all goes well, I will post a link each month on this page to a new post which chronicles our journey including our snack recipes, any handouts we use, and anything fun or useful we happen upon.
Some Potato Peel Pie book club friends have asked if there was any way that I could host a virtual book club for those who don’t have an “in real life” club to meet with. We have had very mixed results with our online book clubs in the past. It seems as though so many worthy groups are creating online book clubs and that our passion is really for review and reflection writing that we don’t want to add to the many options out there. In this case, however, I can understand the desire to follow along and the pacing we are using with my local club may be perfect for a virtual follow along club. If you would like to join us, please request to join this facebook group: Tending the Heart of Virtue Book Club.
