Oh how I love a good thunderstorm! The smell in the air, the distant rumble, the cool breeze that precedes the rain . . . despite it’s potential for damage, a good thunderstorm can be very exciting.
In Thunderstorm by Arthur Geisert, we follow a violent storm through Midwest farm country.
From watching farmers getting in the hay . . .
To animals hunkering down in their nests.
And people are getting their laundry off the line.
As the storm moves through the countryside, it intensifies and turns into a devastating tornado that shears off the side of a farmhouse.
This nearly wordless book is rich with detailed illustrations. I am delighted to use this as an add-on to my Picture Book Preschool week on weather or farms.
