What are Wonder Boxes?
We love science! We really do! And we especially love the old science books when science was presented as something wonderful to wonder about! Inspired by this love of science in the early years, we decided to curate themed boxes that would invite your family into a love of wondering! We created several dozen boxes with books that are suitable for a range of ages approximately Kindergarten-4th grade. Most of the boxes have a primary spine (like a Childcraft or All About book) and a small collection of smaller books to go along with it. We think that these boxes would be ideal for families who want to use them a couple of days per week over a term.
How do I use the Wonder Boxes?
Any way you like! You can use it as an early elementary school science curriculum, or you can just read through the books as part of your morning, bedtime, or nap time routine. The books are varied in style and length, but all are lovely in their own way.
What is the Checkout Duration for each Wonder Box?
Unlike Picture Book Preschool, we expect that these boxes will be checked out for slow use over a season or a term. For that reason, we have a 3-month check out on each box (and we can extend that if necessary) and a limit of only one box at a time. If you wish to do them in a shorter period of time, that is wonderful! You can trade them out at any time!
Do the Wonder Boxes Cost anything?
Yes. $5 per family as a one-time material fee. That fee helps to defray the significant material costs related to the program including all of the totes that we purchased.

How Do I Get Started?
Register for the Wonder Boxes to get started.
Can I Select Which Units I Get?
Sort of. The registration form will include a list of the available boxes. We will ask you for your top choices and then do our very best to match each family with one of their top choices right away.
How do I keep track of my Wonder Boxes?
We have a lovely checklist for you! We will send one copy home with you for your own reference and we will keep one copy in a binder at the library. We will mark the units you have checked out so that you are always getting through your list.
How do I join the Wonder Boxes program?
- Complete the registration form
- Schedule a pickup date for your first bundle
- Read your books
- BEFORE you return your books, please let us know that you are coming and want to swap your current box for a new one.
