A Plumfield Kids Book Review by Jack, age 12

The Happy Hollisters at Sea Gull Beach, is the third book in the Happy Hollisters series that follows a family called the Hollisters. They find themselves pulled into a mystery about a pirate ship that was lost hundreds of years ago.

The plot line of this book is that the Hollisters get a letter from one of their uncles who lives on Sea Gull Beach. The letter says their Uncle is inviting them to stay with him. While they are there, they could go on a treasure hunt for an old ship that had been wrecked hundreds of years ago. Of course, they are going to go. Before they go, they have a pirate show in their backyard with all their neighbors, including the town bully. While the Hollisters are at Sea Gull Beach, they will meet friends and enemies, and they will even have to look at a tombstone.

I have read, so far, three of this series, books 1, 3, and 4. In each, there has been a bad guy. In the first, it was a prowler and a town bully. In the second book I read, it was a different bully whose father is a treasure hunter. In the third, it is a robber. Sometimes the Hollisters have to fight the bully, like in this quote: 

“Suddenly he realized Pam and Rachel had caught up with him. Homer started to run away, but Pam said: ‘Give me back that oar! Pete, make him!’ ‘Get away from me!’ Homer shouted defiantly, and gave Pete a push. Pete shoved him and grabbed the oar. In the tussle it broke apart and fell on the sand. ‘Now look at what you’ve done!’ Homer Screamed and gave Pete a punch on the chin which hurt. I have enjoyed three of these books, and I hope to enjoy many more.
